Former Coronation Street star Cassie Bradley has landed a major role in the highly anticipated sequel Practical Magic 2, joining Hollywood icons Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. The 32-year-old actress will portray Hannah, a young witch whose emerging magical abilities trigger significant events as she learns to control her powers.
Character and Cast Details
Bradley's character Hannah is described as a witch whose powers begin to surface, setting off a chain of events that challenge her as she grapples with the consequences of her actions. The sequel brings back Bullock, 61, and Kidman, 58, reprising their roles as Sally and Gillian Owens, respectively. The story picks up 25 years after the original 1998 film, following the Owens sisters as they confront a dark curse threatening their family.
Returning cast members include Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest as aunts Frances and Jet, who appear remarkably youthful—hinting at witchcraft at play. New additions to the cast include Joey King (The Kissing Booth) and Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) as Sally's grown-up daughters, with Xolo Maridueña and Solly McLeod playing their love interests.
Bradley's Coronation Street Background
Bradley appeared on Coronation Street as Natalie Watkins from January to June 2019. Her character, a former waitress turned criminal, was involved in a money-laundering storyline with David Platt, helping to swindle £80,000 from Audrey Roberts. After a brief stint, Natalie quickly left Weatherfield behind.
Release and Trailer
Practical Magic 2 is scheduled for release in the UK on September 11, nearly three decades after the original. Warner Bros released the first trailer in April, offering fans a glimpse of the long-awaited sequel. According to the official synopsis, the film "returns to a world steeped in moonlit mischief and powerful ancestral magic" as the Owens sisters confront a dark curse.
Evan Rachel Wood's Absence
Notably, Evan Rachel Wood will not reprise her role as Kylie from the original film. Wood confirmed on social media last year: "I offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line. I was told they are recasting. I am sorry to disappoint the fans. It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters."
