Emmerdale actress Amelia Flanagan, who plays April Windsor, is set to appear in the short film Nowt at Bolton Film Festival. The 18-year-old has been part of the ITV soap since 2014, taking on some of its darkest storylines in recent years.
April's Harrowing Storyline
In February last year, a special episode revealed April's life on the streets. She hid her pregnancy from her family, ran out of money, slept rough, and suffered a stillbirth before being hospitalised. After returning with Dylan, they became entangled with villains Ray Walters and Celia Daniels, whose drug and slavery operations ended in death. April and Dylan have since tried to rebuild their lives.
At last year's British Soap Awards, Amelia won Best Young Performer, Emmerdale's second win that night.
New Film Role
In Nowt, Amelia plays Bailey, a rebellious teenager who falls dangerously in love with an older boy. Directed by Milda Baginskaite and written by Emma Doherty, the BFI Network-backed film also stars Liam Scholes as Jason and Olivia Sweeney as Leanne.
On August 14, it was announced Nowt would "start its festival journey" at Bolton Film Festival, running from September 30 to October 4, 2026, at The Light Cinema. The hybrid festival includes around 300 short films, masterclasses, and networking events.
Personal Milestones
Amelia recently shared on Instagram that she has moved into her first home with her boyfriend, posting photos of "New Home" cards and keys with a house-shaped keyring reading "Our First Home 2026." She captioned the post "Been a min, have a dump," which included holiday and gig snaps, drawing congratulatory comments from fans.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX and YouTube from 7am.
