Emmerdale star Andrew Scarborough has left fans 'floored' after they discovered his unrecognisable role in the ITV period drama Victoria. The 52-year-old actor, best known for playing Graham Foster in the Dales from 2017 until his character's apparent death in 2020, portrayed Captain Childers in the lavish series that aired between 2016 and 2019.
Graham's Return to Emmerdale
In January 2026, Graham's true fate was revealed during a crossover episode with Coronation Street, confirming he was alive and well. Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) was stunned to find his father figure back in the village, with the pair now residing together at Home Farm. Graham has also attempted to reignite his romance with Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) and has embarked on a fling with Kim Tate (Claire King).
Andrew Scarborough's Role in Victoria
In Victoria, Scarborough played the unhinged Captain Childers, who becomes increasingly fixated on Queen Victoria (Jenna Coleman). In a memorable scene, Childers stops her carriage and offers to 'rescue her from the German tyrant', causing hysteria and his arrest by the Queen's guards. The series has been praised as a 'masterpiece' by fans, with one Rotten Tomatoes reviewer writing: 'Great show, great performances. Ended too early in her life. Bring it back!' Another added: 'It's Masterpiece Theatre, not a Michael Bay movie... Jenna Coleman does an excellent job portraying the Queen.'
Fan Reactions
Taking to Facebook, one Emmerdale fan shared a snapshot of Andrew in Victoria and wrote: 'Watching Victoria and look who is in it', leaving others surprised. Baffled viewers asked: 'Who is it?' while another exclaimed: 'OMG!!!!' One fan commented: 'Didn't recognise him without a red tie,' referencing Graham's signature look. Another questioned: 'Is that Graham?' A fourth added: 'He would have made a good James Bond in his younger days.'
Other Roles and Career
Away from Emmerdale, Scarborough has starred in numerous other TV shows, including Coronation Street as Harvey Reuben (2000-2001), Cold of Silence as Joseph Holhurst (2025), and Downton Abbey as Tim Drewe (2013-2015). Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX, while Victoria is available to stream on ITV.
