Montgomery Square in Canary Wharf has been taken over by a striking prehistoric-themed artwork, created by the award-winning art studio 3D Joe and Max. The installation features a giant dinosaur that appears to crumble the square into the prehistoric age.
Artwork Details
Spanning around 1,200 square feet, the artwork took three weeks to complete and was painted in acrylic on canvas. It also includes 3D elements such as a black cab and red phone box tumbling into the prehistoric landscape.
The display celebrates the upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures film 'The End of Oak Street', starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, which arrives in UK cinemas on Friday 14 August.
Artist's Vision
Artist Joe Hill said: “As a 3D artist and huge dinosaur enthusiast, this brief couldn't have been more exciting. The End of Oak Street is a thrilling and hugely inventive edge-of-your-seat experience and we've tried to reflect that in this immense immersive art display.”
He added: “It's been great incorporating the 3D elements and seeing people pose within the artwork today has been a joy to behold.”
Visitor Experience
The installation is on display in Montgomery Square, opposite Canary Wharf station, across Monday and Tuesday. Visitors can pick up props and costume pieces inspired by the film's 1980s setting and pose within the artwork for photographs.
Free pizza is available while stocks last, a nod to Ewan McGregor's character Greg, a pizza delivery driver in the film.
About the Film
'The End of Oak Street' follows the Platt family after a cosmic event transports their suburban neighbourhood to a prehistoric world. They must work together to survive roaming dinosaurs and unfamiliar dangers.
Warner Bros. Pictures enlisted 3D Joe and Max, known for their large-scale anamorphic artworks worldwide and Guinness World Records for the largest and longest anamorphic artwork, to bring the film's premise to life.
The free experience is open from 12pm until 7pm.
