Newcastle United defender Dan Burn used his time off during the international break to enjoy a meal at Pine, a Northumberland restaurant known for attracting famous faces. Staff at the restaurant shared a photo of him with the team on Instagram, and he was welcomed warmly.
International break absence
While Newcastle teammates Lewis Hall and Toni Livramento were called up to Thomas Tuchel's squad for the Euro qualifiers, which began with a defeat to Spain on Saturday night after England squandered a 2-1 lead, Burn was not included. Despite his heroic performance against Mexico at the Azteca in the World Cup, he had a free weekend.
Celebrity connections
Pine has a big admirer in Alan Shearer, and was also the restaurant that Gary Lineker visited when he spent a few days in the North East earlier in the year. Speaking on a podcast with Alan, Gary enthused: "We went to Pine. Lovely tasting menu. Absolutely sensational."

Pine, which is on the shortlist for Best Restaurant of the Year outside London at the Food and Travel Reader Awards 2026 in November, also impressed Killing Eve's Jodie Comer, who enjoyed a meal there during filming in the region for 28 Years Later.
