Macaulay Culkin, star of the original two Home Alone films, has indicated he is open to returning for a sequel, with Disney reportedly keen to make it happen.
Culkin's Conditions for Return
The 45-year-old actor, who famously played Kevin McCallister, has reprised the role twice in recent years for commercials. Now, according to entertainment journalist Matthew Belloni, Disney is actively courting Culkin for a new movie. Belloni said on his podcast The Town that “Disney is salivating” over the idea and is “extremely eager to make this happen.”
Pitch for a New Story
Culkin previously shared his own pitch for a sequel during a “A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin” tour event. He described a scenario where Kevin is a widower or divorcee struggling to connect with his son. The story would see Kevin accidentally locked out of his own home, with his son setting traps for him. Culkin explained: “The house is some sort of metaphor for our relationship [and Kevin has to] get let back into son’s heart.”
Past Reprisals
Culkin has played Kevin twice since the original films: in a 2018 Google Assistant ad and more recently for Home Instead, featuring a woman as Old Man Marley’s granddaughter.
