Professional cleaner Charlotte, known on TikTok as @homecleanswithcharlotte, has shared her step-by-step kitchen cleaning routine, revealing that she always starts at the top. With 46,000 followers, she regularly posts cleaning guidance and tips, giving insight into her day-to-day work.
Starting at the Top
Charlotte says: "I always start off with high dusting. I'm using an extendable magnetic duster there, and then I'm moving on to cleaning the cupboard fronts." She emphasizes spraying onto the cloth rather than directly onto cupboards, as "products can leave stains and drip."
After cleaning the table and buffing it dry, she moves on to chairs and countertops. For marble countertops, she uses a natural cleaner, Jangro Premium Citrus Cleaner, describing it as "a nice pH neutral cleaner, but one that's also really good at peeling and cutting through all the grease and grime." She sprays the product, lets it soak, then scrubs and buffs the surfaces.
Detailed Cleaning Process
She continues: "I use these microfibre glass cloths, and as I work my way around the kitchen, I tend to work from left to right. I will sanitise all the switches as I go around, and also making sure we are cleaning all the appliances down." She advises removing everything from countertops to clean underneath, not just around.
For the gas hob, she removes burner tops and cleans them with Bar Keepers Power Clean, buffing thoroughly as the product contains acid. She then uses a soap-filled scour sponge for upper hob parts, tackling "stubborn" brown stains, and finishes with pan supports using citrus cleaner or washing up liquid.
Finishing Touches
Charlotte cleans the sink with Bar Keepers Power Clean, disinfects, and buffs it shiny. She empties the bin first, then sprays it down with disinfectant, dries it off to avoid smears, and declares "that's the main kitchen done."
She finishes by disinfecting touch points like door handles, light switches, and sockets, then dusts skirting boards, door frames, sideboards, cabinets, mirrors, and lamps. After vacuuming and pulling out furniture, she mops the entire floor. Charlotte concludes: "Pull out all the chairs on the table, and then making sure the entire floor has a good furab mop, and we are done. So, kitchen clean step by step complete."
