Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney has made an emotional admission about her upcoming exit from the ITV soap, prompting fans to demand she returns. The actress, who debuted as Cassie Plummer in 2023, is leaving to play Miss Hannigan in the touring production of Annie.

Ahead of her departure, Sweeney shared a first-look at Cassie saying emotional goodbyes to her grandchildren on Instagram. She admitted: "I cried real heartfelt tears on my last day filming this scene with beautiful @bellaflanaganofficial_ @billie_naylor24 and Henry."
