Chase fans slam 'unfair' snail challenge in Paris spin-off

Fans of The Chase have slammed the latest episode of spin-off series The Chase Around the World, insisting a food challenge in Paris was 'not fair'.

Snails vs Raw Onion

In the latest instalment, contestants were in Paris answering French-themed questions. Two pairs were tasked with staying at a classic French brasserie, where they answered food and drink questions to continue the race.

However, viewers noticed an unfair comparison: one duo was offered snails, while the other was given garlic.

Contestants' Reactions

Mother and daughter Nicola and Maddie were first. They were told they could 'eat a snail or clove of garlic to remove a wrong option'. Maddie was horrified, exclaiming: "I am never ever in my life going to try a snail. The thought of it makes me genuinely nauseous."

Nicola decided to eat a snail, later saying: "It was vile... it was gritty."

Father and daughter Ashwin and Nikita, who are vegans, had a choice of garlic and onions instead. The voiceover explained: "Nikita and Ashwin are vegans - snails are off the menu, replaced by raw onion and garlic."

Fan Backlash

Viewers took to social media to express their frustration. One insisted: "Can’t compare onion to snails." Another posted: "Raw onion is much easier to eat than a snail.... probably."

Someone else said: "Raw onions instead of snails... not a fair comparison." Another likened it to I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, joking: "This snail eating is like watching a Bushtucker Trial."

The Chase Around the World continues on ITV.
