Betty the French Bulldog with 'Scotland's Biggest Boobs' Dies

Betty, a French bulldog from Dennistoun, Glasgow, who gained internet fame in 2019 after a photo of her pregnant with unusually large milk flow went viral, has died at the age of eight. Owner Elizabeth Durnan, 43, said Betty suffered a stroke and died in her arms on Wednesday. Dozens of mourners attended a funeral service at Durnan's cafe, Elliott's Eats, in Shettleston, where a bagpiper led the procession, balloons were released, and confetti cannons were set off.

Viral Fame and Personal Support

Betty's viral moment came when a photo taken as she was being taken to the vets for a C-section sparked jokes about her having 'Scotland's biggest boobs'. Beyond the fame, Betty was a source of strength for Durnan through four cancer diagnoses, a stroke, and three heart attacks. 'Through all my health scares, Betty was my support. She's been through it all with me,' Durnan told the Daily Record.

A Life of Luxury

Durnan, who was told she couldn't have more children due to cancer, received Betty as a Christmas present from her husband Stephen. 'I didn't want a dog but now I can't imagine life without her,' she said. Betty had her own bedroom, enjoyed steak dinners, and owned designer Prada handbags. 'To me, she was my wee girl. I treated her like a human being. My whole life was around her,' Durnan added.

Funeral Service

Reverend Peter Davidge led the service at Elliott's Eats, where a large mural of Betty adorns the wall. 'I've been very emotional since she died in my arms. I've had so much support online because everybody loved Betty and she touched so many lives,' Durnan said.
