The BBC has announced that The Lady Grace Mysteries, a period drama hailed as "spectacular" by viewers, will return for a second series and a set of winter specials. The show, which aired its first series on CBBC and BBC iPlayer earlier this year, is based on a collection of children's detective fiction novels by Patricia Finney, later co-authored by Sara Volger and Jan Burchett.

The series follows Lady Grace Cavendish, the Queen's top secret teenage spy, navigating the "glittering yet treacherous world of the Tudor court." Starring Evie Coles as Grace and Rebecca Scott as Queen Elizabeth I, the show has proven popular with viewers.
A synopsis for series two reveals: "Grace comes face to face with Mary, Queen of Scots, during a dangerous undercover mission to rescue Sir Francis Drake, only to discover that her feared enemy is a teenager like her.
