Barack Obama to return to UK with live interview shows
Barack Obama to return to UK for live interview tour

Former US president Barack Obama is set to return to the UK for a series of on-stage interviews in October. The 64-year-old, who became the first black US president in 2009, will take An Evening With President Barack Obama to Belfast, Glasgow and Manchester.

Tour dates and venues

Obama will appear at The O2 in Belfast on October 13, Glasgow's Ovo Hydro on October 14 and Manchester's Co-op Live on October 15. Guest moderators have yet to be announced.

The appearances follow shows at The O2 in London and the 3Arena in Dublin last year. Organisers said Obama will speak about what comes next for America and for all of us.

Content of the shows

The live interview format will cover Obama's views on current affairs. Robin Sherry, founder and chief executive of organisers Seat Unique, said: 'Following the phenomenal response to last year's events, we are delighted to bring three new opportunities for fans to experience An Evening With President Barack Obama.'

During his September 2023 appearance at The O2 in London, Obama was interviewed by British TV historian David Olusoga.

Post-presidency projects

After his two-term presidency ended in 2017, Obama and his wife, Michelle, signed a deal with Netflix to produce documentaries and series under their Higher Ground Productions company. In 2022, Obama won an Emmy for best narrator for the Netflix documentary series Our Great National Parks. He has also won Grammy Awards for his audiobook readings of his memoirs The Audacity Of Hope and Dreams From My Father.

In 2021, Obama hosted the podcast Renegades: Born In The USA alongside rock singer Bruce Springsteen, which later became a book.
