The poster features Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom standing before a tapestry, his mask removed, depicting a woman and child surrounded by angels. This imagery has sparked a theory among fans that Doom is mourning his wife and child, whose deaths may be linked to the time-travel events of Avengers: Endgame.
The Poster's Clues
The woman and child in the tapestry stand above a cracked globe, suggesting that Doom's world or universe reality has been shattered alongside his family. Given that Avengers Doomsday is a multiverse epic and a direct sequel to Endgame, the time-travel antics in the latter are likely the cause. As Tony Stark warned in Endgame, "When you mess with time, it tends to mess back with you."
Steve Rogers' Role
Chris Evans is returning as Steve Rogers, but not as the elderly version seen at the end of Endgame. Instead, he appears young again. In Endgame, Steve traveled back in time to return the Infinity Stones but chose to stay in the 1940s, marrying Peggy Carter and having a child. The theory posits that his actions inadvertently destroyed Doom's world, and now Steve must help fix it.
Doom's Motivation
The Fantastic Four: First Steps post-credits scene reportedly concluded with Doctor Doom kidnapping Franklin Richards, a child with reality-altering powers.
