Major Art Auction Launches to Support Palestinian Humanitarian Efforts
A significant charity auction featuring works by renowned contemporary artists such as Sir Grayson Perry, Es Devlin, and Nan Goldin is set to take place later this month. The event aims to raise substantial funds for Palestinian-led organisations through the Together For Palestine Fund, managed by the charity Choose Love.
Prestigious Artists and Notable Works on Offer
The auction and accompanying public exhibition will showcase rare and collectable pieces from a distinguished roster of creators. Alongside Perry, Devlin, and Goldin, contributions include works from Charlie Mackesy, Brian Eno, and Sarah Ball. Specific highlights going under the hammer encompass Es Devlin's Redraw The Edges Of Yourself, Sir Grayson Perry's ceramic piece Lady With Fireworks—inspired by a miniature in the Wallace Collection—and Nan Goldin's photograph Holy Sheep, Rathmullan, Ireland.
Further notable lots feature Jeremy Deller's collaborative new work with Ed Hall, titled The Constant Buzz Of A Drone, alongside pieces by Palestinian artists Khaled Hourani (Watermelon Flag and Kendaka), Nabil Anani's Nabulus, and Misan Harriman's powerful photograph Brothers In Protest.
Organisers and Charitable Mission
The auction is a collaborative effort organised by Choose Love, Gideon Berger Studio, Hope 93 Gallery, and art dealer Zayna Al-Saleh. All profits generated will be directed entirely to the Together For Palestine Fund. This fund supports emergency relief efforts in Palestine, focusing on critical areas such as food and water provision, healthcare services, shelter, mental health support, and the largest orphan care programme currently operating in Gaza.
Josie Fernandez-Marelli, Chief Executive of Choose Love, emphasised the urgency of the cause, stating: "In these turbulent and frightening times, it’s more important than ever that we put humanity first, and make sure families and children have what they need to survive. There is still an urgent need to support vital organisations providing humanitarian aid on the ground in Gaza." She expressed profound gratitude to the contributing artists for their support in saving lives.
Building on Previous Success and Artist Solidarity
This auction follows the successful Together For Palestine concert, which previously raised over £2 million for humanitarian organisations. Palestinian painter Malak Mattar, who participated in the concert, commented on the initiative's power: "Since working on the Together For Palestine concert with incredible artists like Es Devlin and Brian Eno and witnessing the moving public reception and response to visual art, I realised the true power of artists standing together for humanity and a shared cause. This auction is a reflection of that same solidarity."
Event Details and Public Access
The auction will be open for online bids from March 26 to April 9. Concurrently, a public exhibition of all the artworks will be held at the Hope 93 Gallery in London throughout the same period, allowing art enthusiasts and supporters to view the pieces before bidding closes.
