Arnott's has settled a long-running debate about the pronunciation of its Nice biscuits, confirming they rhyme with "niece" and are named after the city of Nice in southern France. The biscuit maker provided the answer in a reply to a customer on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Company sets the record straight
One biscuit lover had reached out to Arnott's, asking: "G'day @ArnottsBikkies - would you mind giving us the definitive ruling on the pronunciation of the legendary 'Nice' biscuit? N-ice or niece? Cheers."
An Arnott's spokesperson responded: "Hi Bruno, thank you for your query. Nice biscuits were named after the city in the South of France and pronounced the same as that city. They have been part of the Arnott's range since 1922."
