Amanda Holden has revealed the "dangerous but friendly" personality that helped her land her BBC quiz show The Inner Circle, and the cheeky method she uses to deal with online trolls.
The television and Heart Radio presenter told the Daily Mail that the Head of Commissioning for Entertainment at the BBC was her champion. She said: "They said they wanted someone 'dangerous but friendly'. I’ve got a naughty sense of humour. I’m definitely not a run-of-the-mill autocue-reading blonde presenter, for sure!"
The Inner Circle format
The BBC gameshow follows six contestants as they build up a prize pot by answering questions, making friendships and voting each other out before the grand finale.
Holden is also a big hit on Instagram, where she boasts over three million followers. She recently told the Daily Mail: "It’s lovely to have all that support from people. I constantly want to prove I’m worth it, without sounding weird."
Dealing with backlash
Despite receiving compliments from friends, family and followers, Holden has faced backlash throughout her career. However, she does not let it get to her: "I really don’t scroll down to what all the t**** on keyboards are saying."
Her eldest daughter Lexi, 21, is pursuing a career in showbiz. Holden told the Daily Mail that Lexi, who is currently at university, has been spotted by Storm Modelling Agency and is "doing some bits and bobs, enjoying it". The radio host says her daughter "has an intelligence about the world beyond her years" and that her daughters "know to be careful".
