Day two of The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale saw thousands of fans flock to the course, with couples and families showing up in style despite the scorching heat. The ECHO team was on site to capture the fashionable attendees who stole the show alongside the golfing action.
Couples Shine in Matching Outfits
Many couples arrived in coordinated outfits, looking sophisticated and stylish. Among them were Becky and Liam from Liverpool, who were spotted enjoying the tournament together. The event also attracted families, with dad and son Zach, 27, and Chris Sykes, 62, traveling from St Thomas, Canada, on a 'dream pilgrimage' to Merseyside.
Father-Son Duo from Canada
Zach told the ECHO: 'We’re going to do some Beatles stuff, we’re big fans of The Beatles. We’ve got a couple of Beatles things planned for when we get back later today. Then we’re heading to Ireland for golf tomorrow. Ever since I got into golf, [The Open] has been the premier tournament for me. I always look forward to it every year. Obviously, with the course selections, the history of golf, and being a history guy, that's what appeals to me. The history, the tradition, that sort of stuff.'
Families and International Fans
The Fairclough family from St Helens enjoyed their day, while golf fans from Finland and the Corrigan family from Ireland were also in attendance. Bright, colorful prints were a common sight, and all ages came out to enjoy the tournament.
