1% Club Question Stumps Viewers But Answer Is Simple

ITV's quiz show The 1% Club, hosted by Lee Mack, recently left viewers scratching their heads over a question that 99% of people fail to answer. However, some fans found it surprisingly simple once they understood the clue.

The Question That Divided Viewers

A clip from a previous episode was shared on social media, showing contestants tackling the final 1% question. The puzzle read: "If you remove all the underlined letters from the sentence below, what word can be spelt if you rearrange all of the remaining letters? ONE S ELL I N G FR ES H SAL MO N." Contestants had only 30 seconds to solve it without making notes.

The four-word sentence itself served as a clue: "one selling fresh salmon." Removing the underlined letters left the letters O, N, E, S, I, G, F, R, H, M, which anagram to "fishmonger."

Mixed Reactions Online

Commenters on TikTok were divided. One user said: "This is impossible." Another added: "Couldn't figure it out, went to the comments for the answer. Didn't even see the four words staring me in the face as a clue." However, others disagreed, with one stating: "It's easy if you read the clue in the sentence." Some viewers incorrectly guessed "fisherman," while others suggested words like "freshing," "aloneness," and "reformings."

How the Show Works

The 1% Club features questions that increase in difficulty, starting with those 90% of people can answer and ending with the 1% question. The show has become popular for its brain-teasing format, testing logic and lateral thinking rather than general knowledge.
