Super Mario Galaxy Movie Cast Revealed: Brie Larson & Benny Safdie Join
Super Mario Galaxy Movie: New Cast & 2026 Release

The excitement among Super Mario fans has reached fever pitch following the explosive release of a brand new trailer for the highly anticipated sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

Galactic Release Date and Returning Favourites

Following the monumental box office success of 2023's The Super Mario Bros Movie, the sequel is officially scheduled to hit cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 3 April 2026. The new trailer, which launched on 12th November, confirms the return of the beloved voice cast that fans adored from the first film.

This includes Chris Pratt as the heroic Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Jack Black, who will once again bring the formidable King of the Koopas, Bowser, to life. Keegan-Michael Key and Kevin Michael Richardson also return as Toad and Kamek, respectively.

New Additions to the Star-Studded Cast

The film introduces two major new stars to its interstellar adventure. Benny Safdie, known for his role in Oppenheimer, will be voicing Bowser Junior, the fiery son of Bowser who arrives with a magic paintbrush to rescue his imprisoned father.

Meanwhile, Marvel's Brie Larson joins the universe as the graceful Space Princess Rosalina. Her character is seen being called upon to meet another Nintendo leader, hinting at her significant role in the galactic plot.

What the Trailer Reveals About the Plot

While specific plot details remain a closely guarded secret, the trailer offers some tantalising clues. It opens with a miniaturised Bowser behind bars, a direct consequence of the first film's climax where Peach shrunk him before his imprisonment.

This smaller, seemingly reformed Bowser appears friendly towards Luigi, but his temper briefly flares. "That's the old Bowser talking," he apologises, "still talking through my demons." The peace is short-lived, however, with the arrival of Bowser Jr. signalling a new threat for Mario and Luigi to overcome.

Universal Pictures teased the film on Instagram, stating: "The power of the stars is all around you. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is only in cinemas April 2026." Fans have responded with immense enthusiasm online, with comments like "OUT OF THIS WORLD AMAZING" and "WE WILL BE SEATED" flooding social media, proving the immense anticipation for this next chapter in the Mario cinematic saga.
