Hazbin Hotel Season 2 Sparks Fury: Parents Demand Ban on Prime Series

The fiery and controversial adult animated series, Hazbin Hotel, has defiantly returned to Amazon Prime Video for its second season, igniting a fresh wave of protests from parents and guardians across the UK who are demanding its removal.

A Storm of Controversy

Despite fervent pleas from campaigners to have the show banned, the musical cartoon, which follows Charlie, the Princess of Hell, and her quest to redeem sinners, made its comeback on 28 October. The new eight-part season will see episodes released weekly, building towards a finale on 19 November.

Critics have slammed the series for its unflinching depictions of violence, sexuality, and mature social issues. Storylines from the first season, which touched on topics like porn production, assassinations, and cannibalism, have been a particular point of contention. This has led to a significant backlash on platforms like Google Reviews and the petition site Change.org.

Viewer Outcry and Petitions

Angry viewers have been vocal in their condemnation. One stated, 'Where do I even begin? Not only is this show satanic, but it’s also a HUGE bad influence to all of society!' Another called it 'STRAIGHT BLASPHEMY', while a third warned, 'Parents beware!! This show is absolutely disgusting. It is filled with sex, violence and profanity like I have never seen before.'

The discontent escalated with a formal petition on Change.org titled 'Urge Prime Video to Remove Hazbin Hotel from Its Catalogue'. Complaints also flooded into Common Sense Media, a resource for family-friendly entertainment guidance. One complaint highlighted, 'Kids should NOT watch Hazbin Hotel. It had way too much swearing, sex, violence, and inappropriate humour.'

Critical Acclaim and a Dedicated Fanbase

In stark contrast to the outrage, Hazbin Hotel has cultivated a passionate and vocal fanbase. The series earned a respectable 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes for its debut season and has been praised for its unique style. One positive review gushed, 'Hazbin Hotel is a lively, upbeat, offbeat dark that sets itself apart with its eclectic visual style.'

Amazon Prime Video has been clear about the show's intended audience. In the UK, the series carries an 18 age rating specifically for depictions of strong sexual violence and is explicitly labelled as an 'adult animated series', confirming it is not suitable for children.

Hazbin Hotel is available to stream now, exclusively on Prime Video.
