In a rare and heartwarming public appearance, actors Ginnifer Goodwin and her husband Josh Dallas transformed a typical Hollywood premiere into an unforgettable family occasion this past Thursday.
A Red Carpet First for the Private Family
The couple, famously private about their home life, made a significant exception for the Hollywood premiere of Disney's Zootopia 2. For the very first time, they brought their two young sons, Oliver, 10, and Hugo, eight, onto the red carpet at the famed El Capitan Theatre.
Goodwin, who voices the intrepid Judy Hopps in the animated sequel, looked stunning in a beige off-the-shoulder gown accessorised with long gloves. Dallas complemented his spouse in a dark beige suit with an army green T-shirt. The young boys, however, nearly stole the show, looking dapper in fitted black suits, neckties, white shirts, and shiny black dress shoes, with Hugo completing his look with black-rimmed glasses.
Navigating Fame and Family Privacy
Speaking to E! News, the brunette actress opened up about the conscious decision to include her children in the event while maintaining their privacy. "My family is here," she shared. "We have never let our children go to Hollywood anything. We're very private."
She elaborated on their family policy, explaining that they still heart out their sons' faces on social media and have instructed the boys that they are not allowed to Google themselves. "We've explained to them we're still not going to be posting about them... But it's really an opportunity for us to celebrate this altogether as a family," Goodwin stated, acknowledging that while their friends might see the photos, this was a special exception for a major family milestone.
From Storybook Romance to Animated Sequel
The couple, who met and fell in love while starring in ABC's hit series Once Upon a Time, have clearly carried their fairy-tale romance into real-life family bliss. Dallas, who voices Frantic Pig in Zootopia 2, recently expressed his enduring gratitude for the show that brought them together.
In a relatable parenting anecdote, he revealed that they have tried, unsuccessfully, to get their sons to watch their iconic series. "We keep trying to shove Once Upon a Time down our boys' throats and they just don't want to watch it," he said with humour, adding that he thinks it's probably a "healthy reaction that they could care less about mom and dad on screen." Despite multiple attempts, the boys remain uninterested, much to their parents' amused resignation.
The premiere of Zootopia 2 not only marked a professional highlight for the acting duo but also served as a beautiful, unified family celebration, offering a fleeting public glimpse into the private world they so carefully protect.
