BBC Comedy Mammoth Confirms Return for Third Series with Filming in June

The much-loved BBC comedy series Mammoth is officially returning to screens with a brand new series, following a wave of rave reviews that praised it for being laugh out loud funny. According to reports, the BBC Two show is gearing up for another instalment, with filming scheduled to kick off this June for additional episodes.

Details on Mammoth's Comeback and Plot

Sources indicate that the show is now in development for a series three, with lead actor Mike Bubbins reprising his role alongside co-star Sian Gibson. Mammoth, which first launched in 2024, centres on 1970s PE teacher Tony Mammoth, portrayed by Bubbins, who gets a second chance at life. Believed to have died in an avalanche during a school trip in 1979, Tony is miraculously brought back after being perfectly preserved in ice. Now thrust into the modern day, he remains determined to live life as he did in the 70s while grappling with the complexities of the 21st century.

After its initial debut, the series quickly gained popularity, leading to a second series and a Christmas special to satisfy its rapidly expanding fan base. In February of last year, writer and actor Mike Bubbins, aged 53, announced that the second series was in progress, expressing his excitement to fans. He stated, It’s been amazing to see how audiences have got behind this show. They’ve clearly got great taste! So, it’s a no-brainer to get Mammoth, the big character with the even bigger moustache back to create more laughs. I’ve got some massive moments up my sleeve for series two.
