For many, the results secured the grades needed for the next stage of their education, whether that means sixth form, college, an apprenticeship or another training route.

Kai Rooney's football future and family life

Kai is the eldest of Coleen and Wayne's four sons. The couple also have Klay, 13, Kit, 10, and Cass, eight. The family live at their Cheshire home near Knutsford, where their property includes around 40 acres of land and a full-sized football pitch.

The Rooney family are also set to appear in a new fly-on-the-wall documentary, which will give viewers an insight into their family life.

On July 7 this year, Kai signed a first-year scholarship contract with Manchester United. He shared a post on Instagram to mark the exciting new chapter. He said: "Work starts now."

Kai will be following in the footsteps of his dad, who will go down in history as one of the greatest players of his generation. Rooney started his career at Everton before moving to Manchester United, where he played from 2004 to 2017. He made 559 appearances in total over the 13 seasons and scored a record 253 goals. He returned to Everton in the summer of 2017.
