Stirling Council’s Creche Play and Out of School Care service has been praised by the Care Inspectorate following an unannounced inspection in June. The service received a rating of 5 ('Very Good') for leadership, children’s learning and play, and for support to help children achieve.
Service praised for community impact
The team provides creche support that enables families to attend parenting groups and adult learning sessions, plus targeted after-school activities for children who may not otherwise have access to groups and clubs. They also coordinate the Play in the Park events held across Stirling communities during the Easter and Summer holidays.
Social Work and Education Convener, Cllr Bob Buchanan, said: “I’m incredibly pleased to see the Creche, Play and OSC team receive such a well-deserved positive Care Inspectorate report. For such a small team within the Council, they have hugely positive impact in communities across Stirling through their professionalism and dedication. These sentiments are shared by the families and children that they support and form such positive relationships with.”
Inspection details
The Care Inspectorate visited the service at the Mayfield Community Centre, where they spoke with staff, visiting professionals, children and families, in addition to monitoring practice and reviewing documents to inform their evaluation.
