All Saints’ Primary in Airdrie has achieved the prestigious Gold Reading Schools Award from the Scottish Book Trust. This award recognizes the school's dedication to fostering a love of reading among students and the wider community.
A Journey of Reading Enjoyment
All Saints’ has been on this journey for several years, encouraging and motivating not only children but the entire school community to read for pleasure. The school’s Reader Leaders, a group of students and staff, have worked diligently to transform reading culture and attitudes, making reading a treat rather than a chore.
Innovative Reading Initiatives
The school has implemented various activities to promote reading, including CAR (Chill and Read) time, reading challenges, book fairs, the creation of two in-school libraries, a comic club, and visits and projects with Airdrie Library. Support from local businesses and organisations has also played a key role in these efforts.
Through these initiatives, All Saints’ has found fun and joy in reading. Students actively share and discuss books they enjoy, creating a vibrant reading community. The school is proud to be a Gold Reading School, exemplifying excellence in literacy promotion.
