A 74-year-old former teacher at a private school in Tomah, Wisconsin, has been convicted of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old student. Anne Nelson-Koch was found guilty on all 25 counts against her by a Monroe County jury after a three-day trial, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
The assaults occurred during the 2016-17 school year in the basement of the school, when Nelson-Koch was 67 and the victim was 14. Monroe County District Attorney Kevin Croninger confirmed the details, noting that the jury deliberated for about five hours before reaching the verdict.
Assistant District Attorney Sarah Skiles, who prosecuted the case, praised the victim's courage, stating: 'The victim of these crimes is an incredibly brave young man. He spoke the truth, and the jury heard him loud and clear.' She also thanked Investigator Paul Sloan of the Tomah Police Department for his thorough investigation.
Following the verdict, Skiles requested that Nelson-Koch's bond be revoked, but the judge allowed her release with GPS monitoring pending sentencing. Sentencing is scheduled for October 27, and she faces up to 600 years in prison.
