A British man has died in a 'tragic accident' while on holiday in Thailand. Liam Anelay, 28, from Liverpool, was riding a moped in Phuket when a car performed a u-turn, causing a collision. The driver remained at the scene and cradled Liam until emergency services arrived. He was taken to Chalong Hospital but was pronounced dead that afternoon.
An inquest held at Gerard Marjella Courthouse in Liverpool on June 11 heard that Liam sustained multiple fractures, including to his skull, ribs, and legs. The cause of death was multiple injuries from a road traffic collision. Area coroner Helen Rimmer concluded that his death was the result of a road traffic collision and extended condolences to his family.
Liam had been travelling with friends and was about three weeks into his trip when the incident occurred on January 28. He was employed as a production line operator and lived south of Liverpool city centre.
In a tribute on social media, his mother Christina wrote: 'My heart is so badly shattered into a million pieces... My life will never be the same ever.' His cousin Jason Ding also paid tribute, remembering Liam's 'cheeky smile' and calling him a 'credit to the whole family.'
