Wizz Air pilot-in-training and former cabin crew member Sebastien Harrison has identified the best seats on a plane for passengers who experience travel sickness due to turbulence sensitivity or anxiety. According to Harrison, seat 15—the standard over-wing emergency exit row on Wizz Air flights—offers the smoothest ride.
Why Row 15 Is the Best Seat
Harrison explained that these seats are situated over the wing in the middle-aft section of the aircraft, near the centre of gravity. This positioning means they experience the least amount of movement during turbulence. He told The Sun: “The best seats in the plane for turbulence are on or about row 15; this is because if the plane is pitching up or down during turbulence in the middle of the plane, there is less movement.” The seats also come with extra legroom.
Tips for Nervous Flyers
The 20-year-old pilot, who started the Wizz Air Cabin Crew to Captain programme in 2024 and has been flying for over two years, added that nervous flyers should always inform the cabin crew. Crew members can provide reassurance throughout the flight, he said.
EU Border Checks and Queues
Wizz Air also has a vital tip for passengers this summer: bring a portable charger. The advice comes as hundreds of thousands of Britons face queues of up to five hours at European airports due to new EU entry/exit systems. Since the introduction of fingerprint and photographic checks for non-EU travellers, including Britons, queues have lengthened significantly.
Wizz Air’s Yvonne Moynihan previously told the BBC: “When you land in the destination airport, there might be queues, so you should bring a portable charger or water.” She also recommended arriving at the airport an hour earlier than usual. Normally, passengers should arrive two hours before departure, but “in these circumstances, we are advising three hours,” she said.
