Towels can maintain their fresh smell long after washing if a simple storage trick is used, according to cleaning enthusiasts. One person asked on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page for advice on damp-smelling towels, and many group members suggested using tumble dryer sheets.
How to fix musty towels
Group members recommended placing tumble dryer sheets between folded towels when putting them away. One person said: "Put some tumble dry sheets between them when you store them." Another commented: "Make sure they are 100% dry before you put away. Tumble dryer sheets & a dehumidifier in with them."
A third echoed: "I put tumble drier sheets in my stored bedding. I placed them in as I folded them. They smell lovely when taken out of storage. I do it with holiday clothes as well." Another wrote: "Put a tumbler sheet in them when you fold them to put away."
Other suggestions
