A shopper has shared a simple trick for reaching items on high shelves at Sainsbury's, leaving many surprised. Elizabeth Hutton posted a video demonstrating how automatic shelf pushers can bring products at the back of a shelf forward.
How the trick works
In the clip, a woman struggles to reach an item at the back of a high shelf before walking away. Another woman then pulls a small metal or plastic bar at the front of the shelf, causing the product to glide forward. Hutton said: "Public service announcement for my short friends! Did you know this supermarket tip?"
The automatic shelf pushers are commonly found on shelves stocking bottled goods or smaller items, but not on fresh produce displays. Shoppers can simply reach towards the front of the shelf and gently pull the bar to bring items within easy reach.
Shoppers react
The revelation stunned viewers. One woman commented: "Well, that's going to stop me looking so silly in the future, the climbing up, using other items to hook around!" Another said: "Yep happens to me all the time they think we are all tall these supermarkets do." A third added: "Need this in Lidl for the yum yums had the same problem a few days ago."
