An optical illusion shared on TikTok by @marina.neuralean asks viewers to say what they spot first in a picture that can be seen as either a waterfall or a panda. According to the creator, the first image you notice "reveals how easily you open up to others."
What the optical illusion shows
The mind-bending image is one of those subjective visuals that can be interpreted in different ways, much like an ink blot test. The idea is that trusting your initial instinct can reveal hidden aspects of your personality. The graphic suggests that those who see a waterfall and those who see a panda fall into two contrasting personality types.
If you see a waterfall
Marina explained: "It means you open up easily and make new connections easily," adding "you see yourself as an open person." People in this category possess a certain "lightness" and "simplicity" which "attracts others", and they are described as great listeners who give genuinely helpful advice.
There is, however, a downside. According to the creator, others may perceive you as "too positive, to the point where they think you have no problems at all." This is because "when others come to you with their issues, you're always there to listen and help," yet "when it comes to your own problems, you prefer to handle them alone." While you "take pride in your independence, deep down, you wish you had someone to lean on and share your struggles with."
If you spot a panda
"You're the opposite of the previous description," Marina explained. You "may appear sweet and friendly on the outside, but don't easily let people into your heart." It typically "takes you a long time to trust someone, and you have a hard time letting go of past hurts."
Marina suggested this could be due to "past traumatic experiences," in which you were "betrayed or deceived," leading you to "keep your distance." But this is not always "a bad thing" because it "shows you've learned from your past." It also indicates you're "cautious not to make the same mistakes" you made before, so being guarded is understandable.
Another optical illusion
Previously, a personality test shared by TikTok creator Mia Yilin claimed to show whether you are a "powerful" or "private" person. That illusion was said to reveal whether you are more withdrawn or naturally sociable.
