An 11-year-old girl from Lancashire was left in tears after bullies tore her handmade prom dress to pieces during her primary school prom. Jessica Robinson attended the event in a floor-length royal blue gown, but the night ended in heartbreak when a bully repeatedly stamped on the dress while other children filmed and laughed.
Jessica's mother, Micha Robinson from Blackpool, said her daughter was so distraught that she refused to leave her room or attend school for the final two days of term. The bullying had been ongoing for three years.
However, after Micha shared her story on Facebook, the local community came together to organise a second prom for Jessica. The event, named 'Ballgowns & Bravery', will be hosted by Notorious Bar, owned by Libbie Cannon. Businesses have volunteered services including a red carpet entrance, a DJ, security, and a car to transport Jessica.
Cannon said the event aims to 'replace that painful memory with something unforgettable'. More than 50 children are expected to attend. A local tailor also offered to repair Jessica's dress, which she plans to wear again.
Lancashire Police have been informed of the incident and have been approached for comment.
