Everton academy players are set for an intriguing summer of development, with several youngsters poised to make significant strides. Everton FC correspondent Joe Thomas identifies key talents to track as pre-season approaches.
Braiden Graham
Braiden Graham did not make his international debut against France, but the 18-year-old forward gained invaluable experience with the Northern Ireland squad. Despite his youth, Graham has already defied expectations, making his senior debut for Linfield at 15 and later featuring on Everton's bench in the Premier League and FA Cup. Prolific for the Under-21s this season, he has shone in big matches, including Merseyside derbies and cup ties. Loan interest from the Football League suggests a new challenge awaits this summer.
Malik Olayiwola
Seventeen-year-old midfielder Malik Olayiwola impressed after signing his first professional contract with Everton. He turned the tide in a U21 match against PSV Eindhoven with his composure and passing. An England U17 international, Olayiwola is expected to feature more with the U21s next season and may train with the first team during pre-season.
Martin Sherif
Striker Martin Sherif, who turns 20 this week, has already gained Football League experience with Rotherham United and Port Vale. Scoring four goals in 24 League One matches last season, he has outgrown academy football. Out of contract this summer, Sherif may stay at Everton to compete for a first-team spot during pre-season.
George Pickford
Goalkeeper George Pickford impressed with the U21s and gained senior experience on loan at Southport. A loan move next season would provide a crucial test, allowing U18s keeper Douglass Lukjanciks to step up to the U21s.
Luca Davis
Defender Luca Davis ended the U21s season strongly, scoring crucial goals from right-back, including an 89th-minute equalizer against Birmingham City and a stunning long-range effort in the Liverpool Senior Cup. The 19-year-old's versatility and attacking threat make him one to watch.
Jonathan Nsangou
Fifteen-year-old England youth international Jonathan Nsangou made his U21s debut against Aston Villa without looking out of place. Now 16, he is expected to feature more prominently in the coming year.
