A wild boar went on a violent rampage in Toyota, Japan, on Monday 13 July, attacking four people before being cornered and captured by a group including police officers approximately 90 minutes after the first violent attack.
Shocking Footage Captures Repeated Charges
Shocking footage captured the moment the animal repeatedly charged at a man outside a food company in Toyota on Monday morning. The footage shows the boar charging towards a man at high speed. The man desperately tried to escape but fell backwards as the boar barrelled towards him. He eventually scrambled back to his feet but was forced to continue dodging the aggressive animal as it continued lunging at him.
Another man rushed over carrying a handcart and used it to fend off the boar, leading the victim to grab a second handcart as the pair worked together to move the animal away. Both men were left with hand injuries.
Colleague Describes Violent Attack
Describing the incident, the man's colleague said: “When it attacked our employee, it was really violent. It was jumping at him.”
Police said the attack happened at around 5:30 a.m. on Monday 13, when the wild boar charged at two men, aged in their 50s and 60s. Authorities believe the same animal then went on to attack at least two more people after fleeing the scene.
Subsequent Attacks Across the Area
Local fire department officials said a man believed to be in his 60s was attacked while riding his bicycle near an intersection around 800 metres from the company. The boar then reportedly attacked another man, believed to be in his 80s, near an auto factory. Police also received several reports of wild boar sightings across the area on Monday morning and believe they may have involved the same animal.
Capture and Aftermath
Around 90 minutes after the first attack, a wild boar was captured at an intersection about 750 metres away. It was later killed. Wild boars are known to become highly aggressive when they feel threatened, cornered or are protecting their young. The powerful animals have razor-sharp tusks and can charge at high speed, making encounters particularly dangerous.
