According to authorities, 18-year-old Jakob Heintzelman was present at the apartment with his girlfriend, Moore, and another male when his firearm discharged. Heintzelman has reportedly claimed to investigators that he was merely cleaning his gun when it accidentally went off, striking and killing the young honor student.
First responders were called to the scene where they discovered Moore had sustained fatal injuries. The Wood County Sheriff's Office has since charged Heintzelman with reckless homicide in connection with the shooting.
