Police in India have arrested three suspects after a woman was allegedly kidnapped and gang raped in a hotel room in the Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka. The victim, a woman from West Bengal, was reportedly picked up in a car from Tirumakudalu Narasipura and driven approximately 35 kilometers to a hotel, where she was held by three youths.
The suspects, identified as Rihan, Kiran, and Kishore (ages unknown), allegedly raped the woman and attempted to steal money from her. They demanded 100,000 Indian Rupees (approximately £772) before she managed to escape the hotel room. After fleeing, she contacted police, prompting an urgent investigation.
Arrests and Investigation
Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi confirmed that three youths have been arrested and remain in police custody. The suspects are being investigated in connection with the reported attack. The victim has been taken to a rehabilitation centre for counselling and support.
Police have not revealed the victim's identity to protect her privacy, in accordance with Supreme Court directives on sexual assault cases. The suspects are expected to appear in court at a later date.
