A 22-year-old woman has died following a skydiving incident near Langar Airfield in Nottinghamshire. Emergency services were called to the location at 12:13 pm on Sunday after reports of an incident involving a skydiver.
Discovery and Response
The woman was found in an adjacent field and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been notified and will be supported by specially trained officers. No further injuries were reported, and a file will now be prepared for the coroner.
Investigation Underway
Detective Inspector Rachel Mayfield of Nottinghamshire Police said officers are collaborating with partner agencies to determine the full circumstances. She stated: "This was a tragic incident, and we are working with partners to understand what happened. As our investigations continue at the scene, our thoughts are with the woman's family and everyone else who has been affected by this incident."
Emergency Services Involvement
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that crews from Bingham Fire Station were dispatched to assist at around 12:30 pm. They said: "Bingham Fire Station were called to an incident at Langar Airfield at 12:30 pm to assist police. We remain on scene however looks like we will be leaving shortly."
Ongoing Enquiries
The airfield remained the focal point of emergency activity for several hours while enquiries continued. Anyone with information has been urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident 306 of July 5, 2026.
