A 63-year-old woman shoved her own faeces into her husband's mouth during a row at their £1 million farmhouse in Damerham, near the New Forest National Park in Hampshire, on August 20.
Alison Moore made the threat after accusing her husband Rob Moore of not standing up for her at a pub and calling him 'boring'. She said: 'You talk so much s**t, I'm going to make you eat it.'
Southampton Crown Court was shown a selfie taken by Mr Moore before he got washed and changed, showing his face smeared with excrement.
Attack and charges
Moore pleaded guilty to three charges of assault but was spared jail with a suspended sentence. The other two counts referred to her hitting Mr Moore while wearing a ring and later striking him with a broom handle.
The court heard the pair had spent the afternoon at a pub. They stopped in at another on their way home, but staff refused to serve Moore, so they left.
Prosecutor Andrew Coley told the court Moore felt her husband 'had not stood up for her' at the pub and called him 'boring'. There was 'ongoing bad feeling' before Moore targeted him around 6pm in what Mr Coley described as a 'pre-meditated' attack, putting him at risk of disease transmission.
Court statements and background
While Mr Moore had provided a victim impact statement, he had asked for it not to be read out in open court, Mr Coley said, adding he also did not support a restraining order.
Defending, Rose Burns said Moore 'completely regrets' her actions against her husband and took 'full blame', but said her behaviour was a result of 'a perception of an imbalance in the relationship'. She added: 'She accepts no amount of poor behaviour by Mr Moore could justify her actions towards him.'
She had self-referred for private mental health care at the Priory to 'review' her relationship with alcohol, she said, as well as treatment for depression which hit following the death of her father and mother in 2024 and 2025. Moore's sister had also died earlier this year, she said, after suffering a head injury from falling down stairs, and she had also recently suffered the death of an uncle and her dog.
'The whole situation drove her into a very deep depression. She felt trapped and frustrated with her life,' said Mrs Burns. 'Her husband controlled the finances. She wanted to sell up and he didn't. A lack of self-control drove her to do these things; in her right mind, she wouldn't have done them. She is determined her behaviour will change and she wants to try and see if a reconciliation [with her husband] is possible.'
Sentence and previous convictions
Judge Gary Lucie told her: 'The use of faeces was a gratuitous degradation of the victim. You've plainly had a difficult time over the last few years with the death of your parents and other personal circumstances – none of that excuses this behaviour. I see day in, day out, people who abuse alcohol and it is the root of their offending. You don't seem to yet accept that is your case.'
Moore, who had spent three weeks on remand at HMP Bronzefield, was said to now be living in an Airbnb in Wimborne. She was handed a 12-month prison term, suspended for 18 months, and left the courthouse with her husband, who had sat in on the hearing.
She has previous convictions for driving with excess alcohol as well as assault by beating and using violence to secure entry to a premises. The offences related to an incident in the village on April 6, 2022, when Moore, who was reportedly 'besotted' with her builder, had turned up at his address and attacked his partner on the doorstep, tearing out a clump of her hair.
She had denied the charges, but was found guilty at Southampton Magistrates' Court, where she was handed a 12-month restraining order and banned from entering a Damerham street for a year. The defendant was also ordered to undergo rehabilitation activity, complete 100 hours' unpaid community work, and pay £500 compensation to the assault victim and £715 in court charges.
