Whisky Boss Convicted of Punching Partner in Abhorrent Festival Attack
Whisky Boss Guilty of Punching Partner at Festival

Marcos McCurley, a 32-year-old whisky ambassador from Dundee, has been convicted of punching his partner during an attack at Glasgow’s Whisky Festival in November last year. The incident occurred outside the Bon Accord whisky bar at Charing Cross, where McCurley’s employer, Brave New Spirits, was hosting an event linked to the festival.

Details of the Attack

McCurley pushed his girlfriend to the ground, punched her on the arm, and then continued to abuse her inside a car, where he smashed her mobile phone against the windscreen. The assault was described by industry sources as “truly abhorrent,” with McCurley referred to as the “self-proclaimed face of scotch whisky.”

Legal Proceedings

Following a trial at Falkirk Sheriff Court last week, McCurley was found guilty of two charges under domestic abuse legislation. Sheriff Maryam Labaki deferred sentencing until August. The festival, held at Hampden Park, is an annual sell-out event showcasing Scotland’s best whisky brands.
