A wedding at Longmoor Social Club in Fazakerley was placed on lockdown after two men began fighting. Police were called to the venue on Longmoor Lane at around 7.50pm on June 17 following reports of a disturbance.
Incident Details
By the time officers arrived, the individuals involved had already left the area. Police spoke to one man at the scene who sustained a minor facial injury, but he declined to make a formal report. When the ECHO visited the venue on Wednesday evening, high heels and trainers were discarded by the front door, with drops of blood leading outside.
Staff Account
A club statement later confirmed that no staff members were injured and the situation was resolved calmly by police. One staff member who worked throughout the event described the wedding party as lovely and no trouble at all before the fight erupted between two men believed to be family members.
The fight was isolated to the two men, prompting staff to call police and lock down the venue, removing all guests onto the street. Police reportedly attended in high numbers, filling Seeds Lane, before the wedding party dispersed.
The staff member said: "It has been massively blown out of proportion on social media. There was a fight between two family members and the police came and we just shut it all down. It's such a shame because it was a lovely day and what people are saying online is just not true."
They added: "They were having a great time before the fight and they have had to leave their wedding cake here. People have left their shoes and everything. The people were lovely to us and they made such an effort. It's just a real shame two people can ruin it for everyone else but these things happen."
Club Statement
The club released a statement on Facebook just before 11pm, saying: "The whole afternoon and evening (the guests were) no problem at all. They did not damage (anything) or cause any problems. No staff came to any harm and were safe at all times. The police was called due to two men fighting after a few too many. They took it outside and no-one else was hurt or harmed. We decided the best outcome would be to end the night just to be on the safe side, which was done calmly by the police. (It) was such a shame after a lovely day had been had by all. Staff and committee are all home safe."
