Videos circulating online are believed to show five teenagers in their final moments before they were killed in a crash on the M9 in Co Kildare. The five boys died after the BMW they were in was driven the wrong way and collided head-on with a family travelling to Dublin Airport.
Victims named
Jeremy O’Brien, 18, from Carlow; Alex McCarthy, 17, from Carlow; Joey Carthy, 15, from Athy, Kildare; Jack Kennedy, 17, also from Athy; and Kamil Pustkowski, 17, from Limerick were all pronounced dead at the scene, the Irish Mirror reports.
Videos show final moments
Now videos have been posted which appear to show the teens in the moments before their deaths. One video is captioned: "Ur last spin boys. To hear your voices in this boys has me in a pain that can’t be described."
The footage appears to have been recorded from inside the vehicle and shows a patrol car following them with its blue lights activated. Another video posted is filmed from inside the BMW as it travels along a main road with the camera panning towards the passenger seat where a male is seen wearing a black balaclava. The video is captioned: "I love ya brother" and "Gonna be missed boys."
Verification and investigation
As lots of footage is circulating it is not clear if it was all filmed on the same day the boys collided with the oncoming vehicle. It has also not been verified that all of the videos are related to the five teenagers who were killed. Some of the accounts posting the videos claim the videos show the group of boys prior to the BMW crash.
The gardai are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash, while Fiosru, the Garda Siochana Ombudsman, is also examining Garda contact with the BMW before the collision.
