Two police officers are among seven people killed in a crash between a police car and a Volkswagen Passat on the A66 in South Bank, near Middlesbrough in Teesside. Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 3.39am on Saturday.
Road Closed and Investigation Launched
The A66 is closed in both directions between Normanby Road and Church Lane in Eston. Police said there is a significant emergency response at the scene and that the road “will remain closed for some time,” advising people to use alternative routes.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched an investigation into the incident.
