Two British men, aged 36 and 46, have been arrested in Magaluf, Mallorca, over an alleged stabbing and beating of two Irish tourists in a cocktail bar. The Civil Guard made the arrests following an incident on September 19, when several people became involved in a fight for reasons that have not been revealed.
Police said they were called to a brawl in a cocktail bar in Magaluf, located in the Calvià district of Mallorca. One of the victims was stabbed in the chest, while the other suffered several cuts to the neck and a broken jaw. The suspects are accused of crimes of attempted homicide and serious injury.
Victims Hospitalised After Brutal Attack
One of those involved had to be rushed to Son Espases hospital in Palma, where doctors found that the stab wound to the chest had perforated a lung. The Irishman required urgent surgery. The other victim was attacked with a piece of glass, causing injuries to his neck, and was allegedly hit several times, suffering a broken jaw. This second victim also needed hospital treatment.
Police described the incident as a "brutal attack."
Arrests and Investigation
The Civil Guard took over the investigation to clarify what happened. Agents identified and arrested the alleged perpetrator of the stabbing, a British resident in the Magaluf area, a few weeks later. During a search of his home, investigators found clothes with blood stains and other effects pointing to his involvement in the attack. The judge on duty ordered his entry into preventive detention.
Investigations continued to identify the second person involved. Last Wednesday, the Civil Guard arrested another Briton based in Magaluf, the alleged author of the attack on the other victim. This defendant was released with charges.
Police say their investigations are now complete.
