The family of a man who died after being stabbed in a park in Greater Manchester have said he will 'never be forgotten' as police continue their investigation.
Incident and Victim Identification
Greater Manchester Police said they were called to reports of a stabbing on Chapel Street in Levenshulme, near Chapel Street Park, at about 7pm on Saturday, August 15. A 24-year-old man had suffered severe stab injuries and died at the scene despite the efforts of emergency services. He has been identified as Zherko Rasul Osman, believed to be from Kurdistan, and his family are being supported by specialist officers.
Family's Tribute
In a tribute, Zherko's brother said: "My brother was a kind, friendly and loving person who never looked for trouble or wanted to harm anyone. He was loved and respected by his friends, his mates and the neighbours in the community where he lived. He had a good heart and would always be remembered for the warmth and happiness he brought to those around him. His life was taken so suddenly and for no reason, leaving a pain and emptiness that words cannot describe. We are heartbroken that someone who was loved by so many is no longer here. He deserved to live his life and make memories with the people he loved. He will never be forgotten. His smile, his kindness and the memories we shared with him will stay in our hearts forever. We love you, and we will miss you every single day."
Arrests and Investigation
A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning. A 27-year-old man, also previously arrested on suspicion of murder, is on bail while further enquiries are carried out. GMP said officers are 'making progress' with the investigation and are treating the incident as an 'isolated incident' with no wider risk to the public.
