A Brazilian tourist in Italy was left horrified after restaurant staff at Victor Lab eatery directed the kitchen to "spit" in her meal. Maria Clara and her relatives were dining at an establishment in Romagna, Italy on August 19, according to reports. She requested a breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, juice and coffee.
"I'm still in shock, I can't believe this happened to me," Maria Clara revealed to local press. Upon the dish's arrival, she observed the scramble appeared undercooked and enquired whether her server could ensure "the eggs a little more cooked".
Waiter dismisses concerns
The waiter reportedly dismissed her concerns, claiming they "don't make raw eggs here". "In the end, they arrived very soft, but I didn't ask for them to be recooked," she remembered. "I let it go because I didn't want to argue," Clara explained.
Clara subsequently spotted a shocking instruction printed on her bill. She posted the receipt alongside a one-star Google assessment of the venue. It stated: "This is pissing me off. Burn the eggs and spit in them."
Apology issued
This matter was escalated to management. Clara reported the 17 year old waiter became "very nervous." She revealed the teenager offered an apology, claiming it was merely banter between himself and the cook. He even attempted to dispose of the receipt, though she warned she would contact authorities if he proceeded.
The establishment later issued an apology to Clara beneath her online review. "The behaviour you reported was absolutely inappropriate and in no way reflects the values, customer service, and professional standards we strive to ensure every day," they penned. The establishment then posted a clip on their TikTok profile that seemed to mock the situation. In the footage, the restaurant proprietor depicts a difficult patron who requests a meal containing "spit."
Serious matter
"Sometimes it almost makes you laugh when you watch it, but this isn't a laughing matter," she remarked. "It's serious," Clara stated. She has allegedly requested her surname remain confidential following death threats she has received.
