Toddler Thrown into Crocodile Enclosure Has Fifth Surgery

A three-year-old boy who was allegedly thrown into a crocodile enclosure at a zoo in Cambridgeshire last month has undergone five surgeries, his devastated family has confirmed. The toddler was reportedly hurled 15 feet into the crocodile pit at Johnsons of Old Hurst in Huntingdon on June 18, where he was bitten by one of the reptiles.

Family Provides Grim Update on Surgeries

In a statement issued via a GoFundMe page, the boy's family said they have been "living at the hospital" for the past two weeks. The child has already had five operations and faces at least two more, including nerve reconstruction in his arm. The family expressed gratitude for public support, stating: "We are extremely grateful for everyone's generosity. We could never thank you enough for the support you have given our family in this horrible time."

The statement continued: "We have been living at the hospital for 2 weeks now and our son has undergone 5 surgeries. At this moment in time we know that our son is to undergo at least two more surgeries, one of those surgeries being a nerve reconstruction in his arm."

Uncertain Rehabilitation Ahead

The family described the past two weeks as "a very uncertain and unsettling time," adding that the full extent of the boy's injuries remains unknown. "This uncertainty remains as we still don't know the extent of his feeling, movement and function in both of his arms, wrists and hands. This will only be identified after casts and bandages are able to be removed and he can begin his rehabilitation journey. His rehabilitation journey is uncertain but we do know that it won't be a short process."

Police Investigation Ongoing

Cambridgeshire Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident. However, according to reports, the suspect is currently "not fit for interview." The alleged attack occurred at the crocodile farm, which is a popular tourist attraction. Authorities have not released further details about the suspect or the circumstances leading up to the incident.
