Toddler hospitalised after dog attack in Glasgow home

A two-year-old boy has been taken to hospital following a dog attack at a property in Glasgow. The incident took place at a home on Mybster Place in the Govan area of the city at approximately 10am on Monday, October 26.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service, were dispatched to the scene after reports that a toddler had been mauled. The young boy was transported to hospital to receive treatment. The full extent of his injuries and his current condition remain unknown at this stage.

Dog Euthanised and Investigation Underway

The dog was subsequently euthanised. Police Scotland have opened an investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Around 9.55am on Monday, October 26, 2026, we were called to a report of a two-year-old boy being attacked by a dog within a property on Mybster Place in Glasgow. The child was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment to injuries. The dog was euthanised. Enquiries are ongoing."

Record High in Dog Attacks

Dog attacks have reached a record high, with figures released last week revealing that there were more than two attacks by dogs every day on average in 2025, with the 880 police call-outs representing a considerable increase on the previous year.

In a separate incident, Tanya Kanstantsinava, 38, was on her way home from the shops when a Bully-type dog launched itself at her and brought her to the ground on September 5 last year. The dog attacked Tanya and sank its teeth into her neck after its owner allegedly instructed it to set upon the mother on her doorstep in Coatbridge. Tanya's 14-year-old daughter rushed out of the house and into the street to come to her mother's aid, but was bitten on the lip in the process. The ordeal was only ended when Tanya's partner, Andrejs, managed to prise the dog's jaws open to free her. Tanya said she was "lucky to be alive".

Other Recent Attacks

In another incident, young Nicholas Quintero sustained facial injuries after a dog lunged at him while he and his family were attending a surprise birthday party at Leith Links. Nick's mother Maria Cedeno recalled singing Happy Birthday to a friend when she heard screams and turned around to find blood pouring from her son's face. According to Maria, Nick pointed to a Bulldog-type dog as she carried him out of the park and called for an ambulance.

Paramedics attended and police were subsequently notified of the incident. Maria claims the dog's owners attempted to conceal what had happened from police and initially denied any wrongdoing. Nick was rushed to hospital and later underwent surgery owing to the severity of his facial injuries. Maria says the attack has left her son "traumatised."
