A man who 'abused and terrorised' four women has been jailed for life. Jacob Berry, 34, was found guilty of seven counts of rape; four counts of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour; and one count of assault by penetration following a trial, Greater Manchester Police said.
Manchester Crown Court heard officers first received a report of a woman being assaulted by Berry in a car. She was intimidated by him and reluctant to speak to police.
Offending came to light on social media
Evidence of his behaviour later came to light on social media. When three other women came forward, the extent of Berry's offending became clear.
He subjected one woman to 'acts of serious physical and sexual abuse' - spitting at her; strangling her; extinguishing a cigarette on her face; and breaking her nose. Berry raped the woman. His actions were described by police as 'degrading and humiliating'.
Further attacks detailed in court
Berry raped another woman following a party having spiked her drink. He 'intimidated' and 'terrorised' her, GMP said, biting and assaulting her. He stood on her neck and forced her to remove her clothes. He threatened to burn another woman's house down.
Berry, of Brierley Road East, Swinton, Salford, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 16 years. He was also made the subject of lifetime restraining orders.

Detective Sergeant Stacey Nolan, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "Berry systematically abused, controlled and terrorised these women, leaving lasting emotional and psychological trauma. It is difficult to comprehend the ordeal each of them endured at his hands."
