Three children were taken to hospital after an incident on a ride at Maltby Crags Fair in Rotherham on the evening of 11 September. South Yorkshire Police confirmed that the three young people, aged between 11 and 13, suffered minor injuries while on the ride.
Incident at around 7.30pm
The incident occurred at approximately 7.30pm. Emergency services attended the scene, and the children were taken to hospital as a precaution and for treatment. The fairground closed for the evening following the incident.
A police spokesperson said: "Emergency services are currently in attendance at an incident at Maltby Crags Fair in Rotherham after three young people aged between 11 and 13 suffered minor injuries while on a ride."
Road closure and social media reports
Blyth Lane was closed between Muglet Lane and Victoria Road to allow people to safely exit the fairground but has since been reopened. Local residents in South Yorkshire took to social media claiming a ride at the fair had "malfunctioned", YorkshireLive reports.
Former Rother Valley MP Alexander Stafford posted on Facebook: "News from the fair in Maltby, where a ride has reportedly injured a child. I believe only one child is involved, but please check on your children if they are currently there."
