Three Charged with Arson After Petrol Bomb Attacks in Wales

Three men from Scotland have been charged with arson with intent to endanger life following two suspected petrol bomb attacks in a quiet Welsh village.

Incidents in Glyncoch

South Wales Police launched an investigation after reports of an attempted arson at a property in Porcher Avenue and a second fire at a home in Pearson Crescent on Monday, June 1.

The first incident occurred at around 4:30am when an elderly couple claimed a window at their home was smashed and a suspected petrol bomb was thrown into the property.

At around 9am the same day, emergency services were called to a second incident in Pearson Crescent, two streets away, where a house was extensively damaged by fire.

Victim's Account

The woman who lived at the property said she lost "everything" as the blaze tore through her living room and spread into the kitchen. Speaking to WalesOnline following the incident, she said: "The whole room was on fire. The flames were so high they caught my curtains and blinds. I just grabbed my dog and ran. I ran outside with nothing but a pair of pyjamas on. I had no shoes, nothing. It was tipping down with rain and it was horrendous. I just stood there and watched my house. I'd lost everything."

Charges Brought

Following what police described as a swift and complex investigation, three people from Scotland have now been charged in connection with the incidents.

  • Hussain Yasin, 18, from Dundee, has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.
  • Danni Taylor, 24, from Kinross, has also been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.
  • Adam Taylor-Morris, from Skinnergate, has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.

A South Wales Police spokesman said: "This was a quick-moving and complex investigation; officers know these occurrences are rare and we know the impact they have in the local community. We would like to thank our colleagues at Police Scotland for their help and assistance with this investigation."

The trio are due to appear in Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on July 10.
